Nearly three years ago, a group of Wyandot BHN staff came together with the idea to create an art exhibition where clients could publicly showcase their art. For so many clients, art allowed them to express what words could not. That initial idea took root and blossomed into what is now the stART the conversation art exhibition, which showcases the mental health-centric artwork of not only Wyandot BHN clients, but also the larger Kansas City community.
The stART the conversation art exhibition serves as an embodiment of Wyandot BHN's commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding around mental health and eliminating the stigma. Set to coincide with the Downtown KCK Third Friday Art Walk, this exhibition provides a unique stage for those with lived experience of mental health challenges to share their stories and showcase how art has helped them to heal and grow.
This event is more than an art exhibition; it's a powerful and equitable platform where individuals can share their journeys and challenges without relying solely on words. Art is showcased as a form of storytelling through which we explore and express complex emotions.
